The course does show it's age, and does have an overall feel that some fresh updates and minor maintenance could keep the classic layout in tact while providing a fresh feel. I can see why this is the most played course in the area since it's easily accessible for all types of throwers. Overall the park is fairly clean and the location seemed nice. It's a fun course that offers repeatable play, a good place to just get out and throw. Plenty of opportunities for fairway and distance drivers with ample amount of midrange length holes sprinkled in. Relatively straightforward in it's design, I enjoyed throwing around the mature trees and adjusting for the gentle elevation differences this layout utilizes. Distances vary, but are realistic for the more casual player while allowing advanced throwers opportunity to score low. The 19 hole layout provides very good variety throughout. Belmont is a true local course that stands up proud. There's this happy vibe I get whenever I'm immersed on a course in a city park that is a feeling all it's own. I've always enjoyed the classic park style courses with their rolling elevation changes and shot shaping around and through mature trees. As I stated there is a bulletin board/map near the first tee, so just look for that near the back of the parking lot. The park itself can be a little hard to get to, the entrance to the course is off of Highridge Ave. I would recommend this course to anyone in the area, if you only have time for one course in the area this is it. Some courses I like to avoid the crowds on, but most of the people I have talked to here were very friendly and respectful, true dg-ers on this course. If crowds don't really bother you visit whenever you can. The course can get very crowded on evening and weekends, so if you like to avoid the crowds as much as possible you will want to visit during the day. While the course is fairly open there are also some large mature trees that create obstacles and add even more challenge and beauty to the course as well. The are also a great mix of up hill and down hill shots which can add challenge to even some of the shorter holes. There are a mix of left to right and also straight shots. There is a map available online and there is also a large map near the first tee, so you should have no problem navigating if you have these. The course is fairly easy to navigate, however there can be a couple spots that are tricky. While the course can get very crowded most the people I have encountered are true golfers, friendly, helpful, and respectful, they way every course should be. There are a few trash cans throughout the course, and it has always been litter free when I have played, so please be sure to throw your trash away. My favorite hole is #9, you tee off a top a hill, basket is located across a little valley with the basket on top of the other side.Ĭourse is always clean and grass is always cut. They make great use of the elevation changes which is challenging and a lot of fun. It has a beautiful setting with rolling hills and mature trees. Have fun out there! Let me know if you have any questions.Other Thoughts: This is one of my favorite courses to play in Ohio. Invest in the right stuff to ensure you have a a good time! Thin tech wool layers and what not may cost more, but having layers that aren't bulky, and are windproof and waterproof will keep you happy and chucking all winter. Most of the time I found I didn't need to use either of these methods if I simply threw bright pink or dayglow color discs. Some people tape a ribbon on but I found those fall off easily. If you are throwing where the snow is deep, try to stick to neon color discs and get some carpenters chalk to mark your disc. Pick the disc up out of the snow or off the wet ground with these mitts on, take them off just to throw, put em back on right away. I have big ones that I can even fit my battery hand warmer into. The point of these is to keep my hands warm as I'll be constantly taking them off and on to throw. I don't care if these provide much dexterity. It is close enough to bare hand that I don't feel it changes my throw, but gives some protection from the shock of grabbing the ice cold disc. Just the regular ones and not the winter ones. Like the kind worn when you go skiingįriction Gloves. I don't wear boots, I just wear my Adidas Terrex GTX shoes and long socks. Yes, winter/snow golf can be beautiful and fun! A few things I do to ensure I have a good time:
